We invite you to take more than a few minutes to follow the links on this page to learn more about the organization, its history and a growing number of activities to advance the field. In turn, note places where you can express your thoughts and ideas.

Send in news of what you're doing to UPDATE or perhaps offer your particular expertise to a committee. It is through communication and participation that we can build the bonds that create a strong and vibrant organization.

Be inspired by NAMLE's Founding Declaration and the history of the organization. Review the Core Principles of Media Literacy Education and add your comments to the discussion board.

4. Vote
Check out how NAMLE is governed and who's on the Board of Directors and the National Advisory Council. Read the By-laws and review the policies by which we operate. And don't forget to VOTE in the elections each spring.
5. Network
Share your interests, opinions and news of your work in media literacy through Flash! our online bulletin board and the NAMLE Update, our monthly e-mail newsletter. (Only active members can submit items for either one.) Investigate joining a caucus – or organize one yourself by inviting others to meet formally or informally and build on your common interests.
6. Get Involved
Find out what NAMLE's committees do and take the Member Skills Survey to determine what talents you have that could contribute to advancing media literacy in the US. Your volunteer service on an NAMLE committee is greatly appreciated, enhances your professional resume, makes a contribution to the field - and is fun, too!

Plan to attend the 2009 National Media Education Conference August 1-4 in Detroit, MI. Put it on your calendar and in your budget today! Watch this site for all the details as they become available.

Take time to go through the exciting case study on the Media Education, Arts and Literacy (M.E.A.L) project developed with 3-year funding from the U.S. Department of Education. The subsite is loaded with student videos, lesson plans, teacher blogs and many practical ideas for implementing media literacy across the curriculum.
