Finding Your Way Through the Marketplace

Some Tips for Searching Quickly and Easily

The NAMLE Marketplace focuses on resources compatible with 21st century learning, a Web 2.0 teaching approach and in line with NAMLE's Core Principles of Media Literacy Education.

In addition, a unique collection of search functions (backed up by a coding system created especially for the field of media literacy education) make it possible for you to locate the resources you need to implement your media literacy educational objectives - whether in kindergarten or college. It also saves you time, money and effort.

  • Basic Search Functions, located in the top banner on every page, allow you to search by common media literacy topics, grade level or curriculum area.
  • These functions have a "reverse look-up" feature so that each individual product page is also able to display the specific topics, grade levels and curriculum areas that the particular product can best service. You'll find it a handy and helpful feature.
  • Once you establish your account and become familiar with the site, you will want to bookmark Search & Shop: A Comprehensive Search Page in order to help you locate resources
  • By author name
  • By keyword
  • By product code number (or the whole collection numerically)
  • By title (or alphabetically)
  • A uniquely designed search function for over 100 common educational standards phrases will help you find the resources to integrate media literacy across the curriculum and to meet educational standards in almost every state.
  • Plus seven special pre-sorts help you quickly locate:

• New resources - recent arrivals and those in the pipeline.
Items reduced for clearance -- as much as 50% - 80%
• NAMLE Exclusives – you can only get them here!

  • Each product description includes links to two other recommended products to help you build multimedia units or provide additional activities.
  • Put favorites on your personal "wish list" so your selections remain available from visit to visit until YOU take them off the list or move them to your shopping cart for purchase.
  • Customer Comments – Add your own reflection, short review, or story of how you used a resource in YOUR classroom.
  • Capacity to print your search results, wish list or product descriptions for curriculum planning or to accompany purchase orders or requests for authorization to buy.

  • Compare notes with Marketplace coordinator Elizabeth Thoman in the Marketplace Sharing Board focusing on what works, what doesn't – and why – in the media literacy classroom.
