Gretchen Schwarz, PhD

Gretchen Schwarz is a Professor in Curriculum Studies at Oklahoma State University. A former high school English and German teacher, she also worked with secondary English education at OSU and continues to serve as a Co-Director of the OSU Writing Project. With her colleague, Pam Brown, she co-edited and co-wrote MEDIA LITERACY: TRANSFORMING CURRICULUM AND TEACHING, the 104th Yearbook of the National Society for the Study of Education, Part I (2005) from Blackwell. She has written a number of articles on media literacy in schools, and is currently working on graphic novels and multiple literacies. Although a New Mexico native, she claims that there IS culture in Oklahoma!
