Faith Rogow, PhD
Past President

Dr. Faith Rogow, AMLA's founding president, has been a media educator for more than two decades. In that time she has trained thousands of teachers, students, child care providers, and parents to understand and harness the power of media. She has been a pioneer in creating developmentally appropriate media literacy education strategies appropriate for early childhood settings.

As owner of Insighters Educational Consulting, Rogow has authored extensive teacher and discussion guides, trainer manuals, web materials, and media literacy materials for a variety of children's programs (The Puzzle Place, Theodore Tugboat, Sesame Street, Teletubbies, and more) as well as primetime PBS specials and series, including Bill Moyers: Close to Home, more than 100 independent films from ITVS, P.O.V., and Frontline. Among these are "Merchants of Cool," "Race: The Power of an Illusion," "American Love Story," "Twilight Los Angeles," "What I Want My Words to Do to You," and "Promises".

Rogow has served as consultant to a variety of children's program producers, including PBS' Ready to Learn Service, Sesame Workshop, and Ragdoll, Inc. In recognition of her work on outreach for Sesame Street, she was given a 1996 Ralph B. Rogers Award by Children's Television Workshop. As Director of Education & Outreach for WSKG Public Television and Radio she served as Executive Producer for New York Learns: The Multimedia Challenge, which won a 1995 New York State Broadcasting Association Award for Best Single Public Affairs Program for its exploration of the impact of new technologies on educational reform. She has published numerous articles and reviews, as well as Gone to Another Meeting: A History of the National Council of Jewish Women.
